The Tianjin branch of Great Wall Automobile finished its one millionth vehicle on May 13.
Great Wall Automobile started to make Haval H6 Model vehicles in Tianjin in 2011. It took only three and half years for the company to set a new record for capacity and increase rate of automobile manufacture.
The development area in Tianjin made 840,000 vehicles and achieved a total production value of more than 137.1 billion yuan ($22.10 billion) in 2014. The numbers are expected to increase to 1.5 million vehicles and 200 billion yuan ($32.24 billion) in 2020.
In addition, a high-end manufacturing center for parts and accessories will be constructed in the development area in Tianjin in 2020.
Great Wall Automobile has established an industrial park that is able to make 600,000 vehicles and core parts and accessories per year. The annual total industrial output value brought by the industrial park will reach 140 billion yuan ($22.57 billion).
The regional environment supports Great Wall Automobile's rapid development. The development area in Tianjin is also home to Volkswagen, Toyota, CAMC Auto, and Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle.
In addition, more than 140 manufacturers of parts and accessories are based in the area, including Volkswagen Gearbox Company and Lizhong Group.
The development area includes both foreign capital and domestic corporations, and global and local brands. The area has also built a complete automobile industry including processing, manufacturing, research and development, and sales.
A complete industrial chain containing finished automobiles, engines, gearboxes, electronics, and other systems, has been established.
The development area has seven research and development institutions in automobile industry and more than 100 innovative projects that have received up to 50 million yuan ($80.6 million) of national or municipal funding.
