Foreigners can stay in Tianjin for 72 hours without visa

Foreigners from some countries will be able to enjoy visa-free travel in Tianjin for up to 72 hours, according to the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The policy will be implemented beginning June 8. From then on, foreigners with valid travel documents from 51 countries with connecting flights will be eligible to stay in Tianjin for 72 hours.

Passengers still have to obey Chinese laws and regulations, the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration said, and must carry their passports with them. Those who stay at places other than hotels should register at the local public security station in person within 24 hours.

Passengers should not stay in Tianjin for more than 72 hours and should not leave the administrative region of the city. Those who have to stay in Tianjin for more than 72 hours or leave the administrative region due to unusual circumstances must apply for visa.

Passengers who stay in Tianjin for more than 72 hours without applying for visa, leave the administrative region of Tianjin, or exit from places other than Tianjin Binhai International Airport, may be punished according to the laws and regulations.
