Tianjin recent proposed establishing a smart city, according to the city's industry and information technology commission. The city plans to provide more convenient services to residents in three years, including smart medication and smart social security.

The city will establish more convenient and efficient "smart city" applications and management systems starting this year, according to the plan. The work will focus on public service applications, city management, smart city infrastructure, smart economy, and network and information safety.

Over three years, the city expects to complete "Smart Tianjin", with a high information technology level and a strong part of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area.

The city plans to provide public services and promote smart integration of medication, social security, education, tourism, and other areas of daily life.

The smart public services for urban residents will be complete by 2017, establishing a digital social service system covering education, health, social security, and other areas of daily life. The public will be able to receive basic services in a convenient, timely, and efficient way.

Demonstrative smart communities, smart technological parks, and smart urban areas will be built by then.
