The Tianjin University of Finance and Technology and the Tianjin Wuqing District Government jointly launched the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integrated and Innovative Development Institution on August 29. Fan Jie, the director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will be the institution’s president.

A panel discussion was held after the ceremony. More than 70 experts and scholars from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, National Development and Reform Commission Global Communication Center, and the University of Southampton participated in the panel.

The institution will establish a research center for urban research, network management, electronic commerce and services. A center will also offer training in such areas as accounting, consulting, legal issues, smart tourism, and continuing education.

The institution has four main missions. First, it will build a research platform in the background of the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Relying on the leading position of Wuqing district, the institution will conduct high level research and provide research consulting, project assessment, and enact blueprints.

Second, the institution will build a communication platform to launch academic events integrating experience and development.

Third, the institution will establish a research think tank to promote the consulting services. The think tank will also involve in research projects led by government departments, corporations, institutions, and social organizations.

Fourth, it will focus on talent cultivation and train overseas talent , be research base for scholars and train young teachers and governmental officials.

Fan delivered a report titled “The strategic innovation of the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei” during the panel. Huang Qunhui, director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Industrial Economy Institution talked about the strategies in the industrial output and upgrade in the process of integration. Liu Donghai, vice president of the Political Consultative Conference of the Wuqing district in Tianjin discussed the integrated development as a driver for industrial transition and innovation.

Experts discussed topics such as implementation, industrial upgrades, integrated development patterns, the leading role of Wuqing district, and foreign development during the panel discussion.
