A Chinese painter from Tianjin sent his landscape to the 2016 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland as a special gift from the “Tianjin Night” activity on January 21.

Li Xufei, who teaches at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, created the Chinese landscape “Autumn”. The work was sent to the world economic gathering as a gift.

Klaus Schwab, President of the World Economic Forum, was happy to receive the gift.

Li also drew a Chinese golden monkey with the character Fu, or “good luck”, during the activity and sent it to the guests attending the event.

The Chinese lunar calendar assigns an animal to each year in a 12-year cycle and the year 2016 is the Year of the Monkey.

Born in the port city of Tianjin, 36-year-old Li Xufei developed a passion for drawing since childhood. After nearly two decades of learning and practice, Li has combined traditional painting with his own understanding of nature. Quiet life and natural scenery find full expression in Li’s painting collections.

Besides teaching, Li also serves as the deputy secretary general of the Chinese painting board with the Tianjin Artists Association.
