Thirty-eight Singaporean enterprises have invested a combined $ 1.78 billion in the Tianjin Eco-city, reported the Bohai Morning Post on March 24.
The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Administrative Committee, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Investment and Development Co. (SSTEC) and Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry jointly sponsored an investment seminar in Singapore.
Over forty associations and enterprises attended the seminar and discussed the Internet & high-tech, creative culture, supporting facilities, tourism and cold-chain logistics.
The Tianjin Eco-city offers an opportunity for enterprises from Singapore and beyond to access China, said Liew Choon Boon, chief executive officer of the SSTE, adding that more Singaporean enterprises are expected to settle in Tianjin.
Liane Ong, head of the China department of the International Enterprise Singapore said that mutual exchanges between the two counties have been doing well since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 26 years ago.
Singapore is Tianjin’s third largest source of foreign investment. By the end of 2015, a total of 884 projects from Singapore have settled in the coastal city with a combined investment of $ 8.9 billion.
