The organizers of the upcoming Summer Davos Forum and the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission have chosen eight enterprises for the “Little Giants go for Davos” program, in a meeting held May 13 - 18, with the emphasis on innovative development of information technology, environmental protection and green energy.
Four of the companies Taking part in the Davos Forum, June 26 - 28 are the Sugon Information Industry Co, Tianjin S.Quantum Technology Development Co, Tianjin Jiuri New Materials Co and Tianjin Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute. All of them are close to this year’s theme of “4th industrial revolution – the power of transformation”, since they have made innovative breakthroughs in the areas of Internet plus electric power, photoinitiators, architecture information models, intelligent traffic, and 3D panorama surveying and mapping.
Others are the Tianjin Yongmeng Machinery Manufacturing Co, with its corn harvester which is considered a top intelligent agricultural machine that is in great demand in China and abroad and the Tianjin Tanhas Technology Co, which ranks high in domestic sales of its automobile transmission products.
The panel of judges who selected these companies said that their overall strengths and innovative capability are impressive, and they clearly represent the “little giant enterprise” ethos. They also said they hope their selections will cause more small-to-mid-sized enterprises to turn to technological R & D to optimize and upgrade and increase their innovation vitality.
This year’s Davos forum also has a slogan, “Green industrial revolution, innovation leading future”, so enterprises in environmental protection and green energy were also added to the list, especially the Tianjin Hitech Environment Co, with its industrial chain for old tire utilization which blazed a trail in solid refuse utilization for a resource-saving, environmentally friendly city and REsource Electric Tianjin, which has provided solutions for turbine generator electronic control systems and whose products are in use in more than 160 wind fields nationwide.
