Puyu School of Tianjin, China, recently welcomed 20 teachers and students from Deokjang Middle School in South Korea for a four-day exchange visit.

The South Korean delegation first learned about the teaching achievements of Puyu School and they found the course on Chinese intangible cultural heritage to be very attractive.

Under the guidance of the Chinese teachers and students, South Korean students painted Peking Opera face masks, made pottery, practiced Chinese calligraphy, and drew Chinese peasant paintings.

The Tianjin teachers and students also showed the guests the meteorological station and the practicing farm on campus.

After the visit, arrangements were made so the South Korean students could live with 16 local families and experience local Chinese customs. They cooked Chinese food with the families and visited Haihe River, one of the biggest water systems in north China that flow through Tianjin, the Tianjin Italian-style street, and Wudadao, the best preserved foreign style building group in China.

This is the second China-South Korea exchange activity held by Puyu School. Ma Chunyuan, mother of a Puyu school student, said the exchange activities offer children opportunities to exchange with peers from different countries, which opens their eyes and cultivates a sense of understanding with the students.

The visit between Chinese and South Korean students creates an informal, international exchange platform for experiencing different cultures and customs.
