17 dormitories in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong are under the jurisdiction of the Railway Administration of Beijing, receiving daily rotations of trainmen, surveyors, and railway policemen across 13 railway administrations including Xi'an, Urumchi, Chengdu and Wuhan.

Beijing west dormitory is the largest dormitory, with 21 passenger traffic sections and 7 locomotive depots. During the Spring Festival Rush, it receives an average of 2,160 trainmen, an increase of 30 percent. Several dishes are offered in dormitory, where residents have clean bedding and excellent services that make trainmen feel at home.
