Big names are welcomed by the Juilliard School in Tianjin -- the first international campus of the school -- and it will recruit its first students in 2019.
According to the school, Alexander Brose, vice president for Development, Aspen Music Festival and School, an international classical music festival and training camp designed for students, is to take up the post of the first CEO of the Juilliard School in Tianjin.

Another music celebrity, He Wei, professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the music director of the Shanghai China International Arts Festival, will be the artistic director and dean of the Tianjin campus.
Both of the music masters will play key roles in improving music education at the school and a systematic educational management committee will be established.
Joseph W. Polisi, president of the Juilliard School, said that the school has been devoted to the promotion of art education and the Tianjin campus is a significant section.
He added that Brose and He Wei will bring innovative ideas to the education of traditional arts and music.

The Juilliard School in Tianjin, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro -- an interdisciplinary design studio integrating architecture, the visual arts, and the performing arts, will be located at the central business zone in Binhai district and will be the first art school which offers master's degrees recognized by the US in China.
Brose suggested that he looks forward to bringing excellent music educational ideas to students from all over China and He Wei also conveyed his willingness to make the Tianjin campus become a bridge for music exchanges between China and the US.
The Julliard School was established in 1905 and aims to offer the highest level of musical education to talented musicians, dancers, and dramatists from all over the world.
More than 800 students from 42 countries and regions and 44 states in the US are learning at the school currently.
