Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei jointly to deal with environmental protection

2018 is the fourth year of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Plan. Throughout the four years Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have cooperated and will cooperate in control of air and water pollution.

Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have formulated emergency plans for heavy pollution weather, managed heavy-polluting enterprises, and cleared yellow-label cars and old cars. Also, Beijing, Tianjin, Baoding and the main city of Langfang achieved a zero level of coal consumption.

In January 2018, the proportion of the average number of good days in 13 cities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei was 64.5 percent, an increase of 28.3 percent; meanwhile the concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 declined sharply.

Within the four years, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have planned a heavy pollution warning platform with seven surrounding cities, and unified the warning classification.

Also, Tianjin signed an air prevention and control cooperation contract with Cangzhou and Tangshan, and invested 400 million yuan ($63.19 million) in 2015 and 2016 to deal with the coal-fired facilities and coal governance.

In the second half of 2017, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei strengthened guarantees for environmental protection.

In 2018, however, environmental issues are still important in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Beijing will launch prevention and control projects and enhance environmental protection, govern and restore the Yongding River, and advance the second phase of windblown sand governance; Tianjin will focus on prevention of air, water and soil pollution; while Hebei will perfect its regional ecological data sharing and compensation mechanisms, and take forward lots of ecological projects.

In the last three years Tianjin has been devoted to environmental protection in accordance with the coordinated development plan.

Tianjin has focused on the water environment in Haihe River, 2,274 km of the Haihe river has been designated as of excellent quality.

Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will continue to deal with environmental problems in the future.
