Tianjin has achieved an increase in the number of pediatricians through the talent attraction policy, according to the municipal health and family planning commission.
In 2016 and 2017, Tianjin welcomed more than 230 new pediatricians to practice medicine, and the number of pediatricians per thousand children reached 0.65. By the end of this year, the number of pediatric physicians per thousand children in the city is expected to reach 0.69. By 2020, the figure is expected to touch 0.73.
Since 2016, the city has taken ten initiatives to attract pediatric personnel, including selecting pediatricians one year before the clinical medical students graduate from a medical college; transferring doctors to pediatrics through job-transfer training; encouraging former pediatricians to return to their posts; encouraging and supporting pediatric leading talents to come to Tianjin and so forth.
Tianjin also identified ten tasks to strengthen the medical and health service of children, including: optimizing the allocation of pediatric resources in our city, strengthening the emergency guarding at peak hours, improving the pediatric service system and so on.
In 2017, 50 pediatricians were selected to receive professional education equivalent to the postgraduate education, and the project will be continued this year.
Training program for general practitioners in the primary and secondary health care institutions has been completed. More than 200 doctors passed the assessment and provided standardized medical services for children.
Currently, the municipal health and family planning commission is recruiting new pediatricians for various medical institutions and municipal children's hospital, and is working to improve the salary of pediatricians.
