The report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has presented the principles of China's diplomatic work and proposed a series of thoughts to direct the development of Chinese diplomacy, says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:

These changes will influence how China deals with the outside world and thus are also meaningful for the world's peaceful international environment.

According to the report, China will unswervingly walk down the peaceful development path, which is a choice for China's development with Chinese characteristics. Continuing its peaceful development is the strategic choice made by Chinese people.

The development achieved by China during the past decades proves the rationality of this path, which fits China's national characteristics, despite the difficulties along the way.

The report adds win-win characteristics to the original peace, development and cooperation diplomatic principles and stresses that China should deepen mutual trust on equal footing and boost cooperation in foreign affairs.

These principles show China's constant support for democracy in international relations, and fairness and justice in international politics, which is actually in line with the common interests of the world as the issues and uncertainties of the global economic recovery increasingly become main global challenges. China will seek more opportunities for win-win cooperation with foreign countries.

China will participate in international affairs more actively and assume its responsibilities as a major country to face up to the global challenges with the rest of the world.

China will also firmly defend its sovereignty, safety and development interests and never yield to external pressures.

China will independently reach its decisions, and define principles and policies on foreign affairs according to the rights and wrongs of the matters. China will always stand for the peaceful resolution of international disputes and problems and promote global economic development and balanced growth through deepening cooperation and mutual trust.

The Chinese people's interests will be combined with the global common interests. China will make bigger contributions to the sustainable development, lasting peace and common prosperity of the whole world.

The complicated international situation requires Chinese diplomacy to present broader global outlooks and play a more active role in international affairs.
