I believe a mother should be able to take along her infant, no matter what passenger class she is flying. However, as a passenger she is also responsible for her infant and how or when this child might affect other passengers. It is simple to speak to a pediatrician about taking an infant along on a trip, and especially when that child is prone to crankiness. There are medications available that will keep the child in a more subdued state without any adverse effects.
