Dietfurt is a small town in Germany's Bavaria state. Though the town's 3,000 residents are all Europeans, they identify themselves as Chinese and celebrate what they call the "Chinese Carnival" every Lunar New Year.

The town's "Chinese Carnival" was established in 1928 and has become the most important festival in this area.

During the festival, revelers dress in traditional Chinese costumes and stage a parade with a dragon float, marching bands and dancers. The festivities reach their peak as the "Chinese emperor", chosen from among the townspeople, addresses the crowd.

Some Germans consider the Chinese carnival in Dietfurt as the most interesting and impressive carnival in Bavaria.
