'Million-dollar bride' is a pure wedding cake
A life-sized chocolate and diamond cake constructed in the shape of an Arabian bride has taken center stage at a Dubai bridal show in February.
The mannequin-like bridal cake, standing at 1.8 meters and weighing nearly 120 kg, took London-based designer Debbie Wingham five days to create before it was pre-baked at the five-star luxury hotel Raffles Dubai.
The life-like cake was made with 1,000 eggs, 50 kg of lace-textured fondant and 25 kg of chocolate frosting on the face, upper body, fingers and arms.
The unique cake was embellished with 5,000 hand-cut flowers with edible pearl inserts and five flawless three-carat white diamonds worth $200,000, making it worth $1m in total - and worthy of the name - the million-dollar bride.
