'Emotional support' peacock denied entry on United flight
Birds of a feather may flock together, but this one didn't fly.
A female passenger who tried to take her pet peacock for emotional support was denied boarding on a United Airlines flight departing Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
Though the woman claimed she had bought a ticket for the peacock, the airline refused to let the large bird on board saying it didn't meet guidelines due to its weight and size.
The United said they had explained the issue to the traveler three times before she arrived at the airport serving the New York and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
After six hours at the airport, the exotic bird and its human companion decided to take to the road and instead drive across the US.
