New 'Fast and Furious' spin-off continues to lead mainland box office

BEIJING - "Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw," the latest spin-off of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise, led the Chinese mainland box office on Saturday, the second day of screening, the China Movie Data Information Network said Sunday.

The film raked in 239.82 million yuan (about $34.07 million), accounting for about 69.5 percent of the daily total.

Coming in the second was Chinese animated film "Ne Zha," which grossed 62.96 million yuan Saturday.

"The Bravest," a Chinese feature film putting spotlight on firefighters, ranked third by raking in 16.82 million yuan on its 24th day of screening.
