An integrated data center, which was put into operation on Thursday, has helped a desert region in Northwest China reserve more resources for future new energy development and utilization, according to the State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company.

Construction on the multi-station integrated data center, transformed from an electric substation, had started in August and passed inspection on April 3. The data center is in Lanzhou, capital city of Northwest China's Gansu province.

"As an important new energy production base, Gansu is qualified to promote more data centers related to electricity transformation because of its cold and dry climate," said Yan Xiaobin, director of the Internet Business Development Department at the State Grid Gansu power company, adding"The data center will work efficiently and effectively once put into use."

The integrated data center is the largest data center that the State Grid Corporation has put into production, and also is the first one constructed outdoors.
