Zhu Xian, former vice-president of New Development Bank, resumed the post of vice-president and secretary-general of the International Finance Forum on Wednesday, according to information released on Wednesday.

Zhu, who is also former vice-president of the World Bank, presides over international liaison, cooperation development, international affairs and academic guidance of the forum, according to the forum's statement.

The forum is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental international organization founded in Beijing in October 2003. Established by more than 20 key international organizations, including the United Nations, the forum aims to promote financial think tanks within China and other emerging economies.

The forum has been committed to promoting cooperation and development in international finance ever since its inception 18 years ago. With ever-increasing international influence, it has developed into a high-level platform for global financial dialogue, Zhu said.

"In the post-epidemic era, although based in China, (the forum) will continue to gear itself to global needs, contribute ideas and solutions to the sustainable development of the world economy and cooperation in coping with global climate change. Meanwhile, (the forum) will focus on its long-term development and strengthen its efforts in international network, academic research, member services, etc," he said.

Zhu has worked for the Ministry of Finance of China for a long time. He served as the executive director for China at the World Bank and was once senior adviser of the South Asia Department and director of co-financing at Asian Development Bank. During his days at New Development Bank, he supervised the overall operation of the institution, including project loans, operational compliance, project procurement and the operation of its regional branches.
