China has urged the United States to stop making unfounded accusations against other countries and to adhere to World Trade Organization rules to maintain a fair and just international trade order, said the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.

The ministry responded to a report released by the Office of the United States Trade Representative's report on foreign trade barriers last week, which identified China as the primary country of focus.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said that China believes that whether a country's trade policy constitutes a barrier should be judged based on whether it violates the WTO rules.

In an online statement, the Chinese official said that the US report lacks evidence to prove China's policies and practices breach WTO rules. Despite this, it unfairly accuses China of maintaining so-called "non-market" policies and practices, as well as barriers in sectors like agriculture and data policy.
