On Sunday, staff members from State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company and team members from the Rainbow Communist Party Member Service Team conducted an inspection at a homestay on Jiming Island in Weihai, Shandong province. They listened to the requirements of the business owner and ensured reliable electricity supply during the peak tourist season.

"The refrigerator and range hood are in good working condition with no safety hazards. Please feel free to contact us at any time if there are any issues with electricity," a team member said to the homestay owner Sun Delian. This is a microcosm of the collaboration between the State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company and Gangxi town to support rural tourism under the framework of State Grid Corporation of China's "village network co-construction".

The rooster-shaped Jiming Island is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea. Despite its small size of only 0.31 square kilometers, it is well-known for its nearly 400 years of rich history and authentic fishing culture. In 2013, the popular reality show Where Are We Going, Dad once chose it as a setting, giving it a boost to develop tourism. Subsequently, the island's popularity soared, becoming a key part of Weihai tourism.

This unexpected exposure not only brought unprecedented attention to the island but also spurred rapid development in tourism and the service industry. Family inns and dining services emerged on the island, and experiential projects related to fishing village life became popular.

The "village network co-construction" campaign utilizes the advantages of power grid personnel being familiar with the people and the area. By combining online and offline methods, the electricity supply channels are extended to rural service points, providing stationed services, electrical facility inspections, safety usage promotion and a series of electricity supply services. The establishment of the Jiming Island "village network co-construction" electricity convenience service station accurately met the electricity needs of residents on the island and achieved greater accessibility for electricity service for customers. This move provided strong support for the comprehensive promotion of island tourism.
