Ambassador to India embraces confidence in building trust and cooperation

China and India should enhance political mutual trust, properly manage difference and advance exchanges and cooperation, said newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong, on Friday.

The improvement and development of bilateral relations will not come naturally like the monsoon in New Delhi. It can't happen without the joint efforts of both sides, Xu told guests attending a reception welcoming him and his wife in New Delhi.

"China and India are close neighbors. If we only look through our own perspective, neither of us can see the whole picture of the Himalayas. Only if we stand high, can we look far with vision and conviction," he said.

We should mutually respect and accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns, manage differences through dialogue and consultation, and properly handle the pending issues between the two countries, he said.

China and India are giant neighbors, and it is normal for neighbors to have differences. The key is to properly handle them. The two countries should not just focus on the differences, nor should we let differences disturb our development process and overall bilateral relations, Xu stressed.

The ambassador has sought joint efforts and emphasized on implementation of important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and turn it into concrete policies and concerted actions to improve the ties.

"We should stick to these important consensus, and push China-India relations back on the right track at an early date," Xu highlighted.

Xu said he is hopeful that China-India relations will definitely proceed further along the sound and stable track and two sides should continue to promote dialogues at different levels and in various fields, and enhance understanding and mutual trust through communication.

The ambassador said he hopes that the Indian side will provide a sound business environment for the Chinese enterprises doing business in India.

The Chinese side welcomes more Indian commodities to enter the Chinese market, and more Indian enterprises to invest in China.

China is India's largest trading partner, with a bilateral trade volume of $136.2 billion last year. There are many Indian friends visiting China every day, and 80 percent are for business purposes. This fully shows the vitality of economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Xu pointed out.

Both sides need to take more measures to facilitate exchanges and cooperation in the fields of think tanks, media, culture, education, technology and tourism, Xu underscored.

"We should attach great importance to the exchanges between the youth, and advance China-India friendship from generation to generation," the ambassador highlighted.

In China, Dr. Kotnis and Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore are well-known, and Bollywood films and Yoga enjoy great popularity.

In India, Chinese people always feel the support from the Indian government for the development of China-India relations. The Chinese people are willing to be friends and development partners with the Indian people forever, Xu emphasized.
