In his watercolors, Wang Honghai returns again and again to the Yellow River — his enduring source of memory and meaning.

A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy in the 1980s, where he later taught, Wang developed his artistic voice alongside his academic career. Over the past four decades, he has traveled extensively along the river, making it the central subject of his work. His compositions reveal a cinematic sensitivity to light, framing, and atmosphere — an imprint of his film training.
