BUDAPEST, May 19 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese tea cultural event themed "Tea: The Taste of Harmony" was held Tuesday in Budapest to promote cultural exchanges between China and Hungary through traditional tea ceremonies and artistic performances.

The event featured a performance blending Suzhou embroidery and a traditional tea ceremony. Guests also learned how to brew Biluochun, a renowned green tea from east China's Jiangsu province, sampled Suzhou-style pastries, and watched live embroidery demonstrations by Chinese artisans.

Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao said tea had historically served not only as a major trade commodity along the ancient Silk Road, but also as a bridge for exchanges between civilizations.

"China will continue to pursue high-quality development and high-standard opening up, while placing greater emphasis on cultural heritage, innovation, and international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation," Gong said.

Judit Eva Nagy, president of the Hungary-China Friendship Association, said culture has a unique ability to connect people and described tea as "one of the most beautiful symbols" of that idea.

The event was jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Budapest and the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
