Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that China will host the inaugural Xiong'an Global Governance Forum this autumn to pool broader international consensus for building a more just and equitable global governance system.
Wang made the remarks at a news conference for the release of a white paper titled "More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China's Principles, Proposals and Actions", in response to a question about what steps China will take to turn the Global Governance Initiative into more concrete and practical outcomes.
The China-proposed GGI aims to serve the common good of the international community, Wang said, adding that turning the vision into concrete action requires major countries to shoulder responsibilities, multilateral mechanisms to play their role and the international community to make joint efforts.
Wang said China will work to reinvigorate open regionalism as it hosts this year's APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, with the aim of moving forward with peace and development in the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Wang said China will also strengthen governance in emerging areas. As new frontiers continue to bring new challenges, China will work with the international community to seek consensus and improve governance systems on issues such as ensuring that technology serves humanity, promoting AI for good and for all, advancing sustainable development and the global green and low-carbon transition, and keeping industrial and supply chains as well as international transport routes stable and unimpeded.
China will continue to build governance platforms, Wang said. The International Organization for Mediation, initiated by China, has already made a good start in helping resolve international disputes and China welcomes more countries to join the organization and contribute to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, he said.
In an effort to make greater contributions to global ocean governance, Wang said China is also offering to host the Secretariat of the Agreement on Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction in Xiamen.
