The Red Cross Society of China dispatched emergency aid supplies on Monday to flood-stricken areas in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, where extreme flooding triggered by Typhoon Maysak has claimed at least four lives.
The organization plans to deliver a total of 5,000 emergency family kits, each containing blankets, towels, moisture-proof mats, slippers, socks, flashlights, tableware, umbrellas, collapsible water buckets, hangers, carrying bags, and other daily necessities for displaced households.
Of these, 4,000 kits were transported from Nanning, the regional capital, on Monday evening and arrived in the hardest-hit city of Hengzhou, which is administered by Nanning, early on Tuesday.
According to local authorities, as of 11 am on Tuesday, 84,700 people were affected in Hengzhou, and the city planned to evacuate 54,468 residents, with 53,808 already relocated to safety. Four people have been confirmed dead, and eight others are reportedly missing.
