Father and son: Passing the spirit of charity from generation to generation

A father-and-son duo of philanthropists in China has left a legacy of charitable work through their dedication to public welfare spanning half a century, with the father saying that "Charity is not a fleeting impulse; it must be passed down generation after generation."

Albert Yeung, chairman of Hong Kong-based Emperor Group, and his son Alex Yeung, who serves as its vice-chairman, have left a profound mark in areas such as elderly care, child support and youth development.

To date, the group has funded the construction of 11 elderly centers and children's welfare homes in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, providing over 3,000 beds.

Since the 1970s, when the father founded the Lions Club of South Kowloon in Hong Kong, he has led his group to continuously invest in areas such as elderly care, youth development, cultural education, and medical donations.

On June 24 this year, at the "Saluting Role Models —Enhancing Goodwill Initiative" conference in Beijing, Albert Yeung became the first honoree to take the stage, receiving the Philanthropy Navigator award. His son Alex Yeung was named a "Philanthropy Benchmark", while the group's artiste Kara Wai received the Philanthropy Star Power award.
