Innovative cork artworks highlight sustainability in Beijing

Portuguese cork is being presented in new artistic forms at the second Future Arts Festival in Beijing, where artists are exploring the material through installations, photography, sculpture and spatial practices.

The Portuguese Cork Association, or APCOR, is participating in the three-month festival, which runs from Sept 19 to Dec 18 in Chaoyang district.

Under the theme "Cork · Sustainability", APCOR has set up a dedicated space showcasing the material in everyday applications, including wine stoppers, toys, furniture, home decor and fashion accessories.

The exhibition also features a series of artworks created specifically for the festival. Curated by Zhang Xiaorui, the project brings together artists Tony Chen, Billy Chen, Lu Guo, Shuai Xu and Yilan Zeng, who come from different creative and professional backgrounds.
