A delegation of 105 journalists from 98 countries toured key sites across Shanghai on Nov 6, tracing the legacy of the Communist Party of China, examining community governance practices, and witnessing the greening of the city's heavy industry.
The media delegation began its visit at the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, where delegates learned about the origins of the Party, which now counts more than 100 million members. The memorial hall stands next to the site where the CPC was founded in 1921 by a group of organizers averaging 28 years old.
Mark Longyen, an editor at the News Agency of Nigeria, said the founding of the CPC in 1921 "actually changed everything about China".
