BEIJING – Time-honored brands from across China have gathered in the capital for an exhibition to promote their products.

A total of 185 producers of food, handicrafts, jewelry, clothing, tea and traditional Chinese medicine will be displaying goods at Beijing Exhibition Center until Sunday.

More than 100 people lined up outside on the first day on Thursday.

"It is my first time to have rice miancha”, said a woman in her 80s who did not give her name. She had traveled from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to visit her son in Beijing. “It tastes OK but I’m not used to this Beijing snack.”

The exhibition has attracted brands from 15 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, including Beijing’s Quanjude restaurant, which is famous for Peking Duck, and Gaochun Ceramics based in Jiangsu province.

“Customers like our steamed bread, twisted roll and tangsanjiao (a sweetened bean paste shaped into triangle). We sold out 120 packs in one and a half hours,” said Hu, general manager of Huifeitang restaurant.
