NANNING - A fire has been raging in a scenic site in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region since Tuesday afternoon, threatening a nearby TV signal tower, local authorities said.
The fire broke out at around 4 pm Tuesday in the Yaoshan Mountain, a tourist attraction in the regional capital Guilin, according to the municipal forest fire control headquarters.
More than 200 people were sent to fight against the fire, but due to strong winds, the fire is still spreading, the headquarters said.
A TV signal tower is in the proximity of the fire, and five fire engines are stationed nearby to protect the tower, the headquarters said.
Casualties have not been reported yet.
