More investment in agricultural technology needed

Ren Zhenglong, a member of the NPC Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, urged the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Science and Technology to invest more in agricultural technology development in Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Ren, a National People's Congress deputy from Sichuan, said increasing investment in agricultural science and technology would not only improve food production capacity, but also improve food safety.

"Sichuan in recent years has increased investment into the science and technologies of agriculture, so the wheat produced in Sichuan is more healthy without the use of pesticides, thereby reducing food safety risk,” said the agricultural expert.

"This is a typical example of using technology to solve food safety problems.”
