Solidaridad, a Netherlands-based international NGO, is introducing its soybean production certification into China by conducting pilot projects with Chinese companies.
The certification, named "Responsible Soy", covers the supply chain between farmers and processing companies. It trains farmers to adopt better and greener ways of producing soybeans, avoiding excessive use of chemicals. By obtaining the certification, the farmers might get higher soybean prices and access to better customers, the NGO said.
It is now conducting a pilot project with Sinograin Northern Agricultural Development Co at the Chinese State-owned Sinograin group in Northeast China, the country's main soybean growing area.
