Solo exhibition

Shanghai-based artist Hu Xiangcheng's second solo exhibition is on show at Shanghai Gallery of Art. Hu started his artistic career in the 1980s, painting realistic pieces. A visit to Tibet prompted him to meditate on the spiritual world as opposed to material existence. His time in South Africa inspired him to include symbolic patterns and totem images in his paintings. On exhibition are about 50 paintings, as well as installations and sculptures. A reproduction of his studio is also presented at the exhibition hall.

11 am-7 pm, until April 16. Shanghai Gallery of Art, 3F, 3 Zhongshan E1 Lu (Road), Shanghai. 021-6321-5757.

Images of an invisible man

Liu Bolin's photos titled Hiding in the City, in which he modeled an invisible man against various backgrounds of city life, are on display. His solo exhibition at the Hadrien de Montferrand Gallery shows his prolific productions on paper, including sketches on his previous notebooks, drawings and colored drafts of the sculptures he is working on. The works reflect Liu's pondering over urban development and solutions to social issues. HDM's newly opened space in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, is also showcasing Liu's latest masterpieces.
