A series of international ecological folk music performances, including 15 large-scale performances and 599 performers, will launch this summer in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China’s Guizhou province.
Themed "Refreshing Guiyang - Folk Music Summer", the performance will open on July 4 in Guiyang and last until August 3.
Xu Ming, director of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture, said at the press release that 12 performance teams from Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Oceania and 40 performance teams from 18 provinces in China will present more than 70 unique shows.
Five musical performances, such as Blooming Mountain Flowers, that represent the ethnic Dong culture and music will be presented to the public. They will be accompanied by other kinds of folk performances, such as American country music and dances.
"Also, we will organize several forums to talk about music culture," Xu said."An international platform on ecological folk music development is expected to set up in Guiyang. And we want to develop it into a global platform aiming at cultural protection, development, communication and innovation."
Luo Shuo, general manager of Guizhou Arts Company, which organizes the event for this year, said that the public can enjoy the great event with low ticket price. One kind of ticket costs 50 yuan ($8.00) for families, as we want to encourage children to come and enjoy.
