According to the Guiyang municipal government on January 8, Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, will host the Guiyang International Big Data Expo 2015 from May 26 to 29. Jack Ma, chief executive of Alibaba Group Holding, and Terry Gou, chairman of Foxconn Technology Group, will attend the event.
Liu Wenxin, mayor of Guiyang city, said: "Talking about the big data industry, Guiyang has many advantages for developing it, such as a pleasant climate, fresh air and livable environment. Natural disasters, including earthquakes and typhoons, rarely happen in Guiyang, thus providing a highly secure and safe environment for network equipment."
"Also, Guiyang is rich in natural resources, such as phosphorus, aluminum and coal. The resources make Guiyang a place rich in electricity, which can provide power guarantees for network equipment," Liu added.
Early in 2014, Guiyang was honored as the "Best City for Developing the Big Data Industry" by the China Data Center Industry Association.
The big data expo in 2015 will surely promote the image of Guiyang in the big data industry to a further level.
