Newspaper exhibition held in Guiyang to celebrate China's 70th anniversary

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, all the newspapers about the liberation of provinces, municipalities, and cities by provincial capitals are on display at a private newspaper library in Yongle township of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The exhibition, which opened on July 30, features more than 200 newspapers that have been published since Oct 1, 1949, the day that the People's Republic of China was founded.

The newspaper library was established in 2007 by Liu Yuzhi, a 77-year-old man from Guiyang. He has been collecting newspapers of all varieties from all over the country for more than 50 years. To date, he has a collection of more than 500,000 pieces in his library.

"These paper publications are the diary of our country," Liu said. "To keep them is to record history."
