During a visit to Changchun Railway Vehicle Co Ltd in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, President Xi Jinping said government officials at all levels were the people's servants, and the central leaders were the chief servants of the people.
Xi's comment highlights the Party's principle and tradition of "governing for the people".
As servants of the people, officials at all levels should frequently communicate with ordinary people to understand their concerns and needs. Government officials should put the public's interests first during policymaking and while implementing the policies, and they should not turn a blind eye to the difficulties and problems of ordinary citizens.
When Xi worked in Ningde, Fujian province, he pointed out: It is a tough job being an official, but it is worthwhile if it is conducive to improving people's livelihoods and increasing people's satisfaction with the Party.
Officials at all levels should actively respond to Xi's call for them earnestly serve the people.
