5G, big data boosts smart transportation in Jiangsu

At the Jiangsu expressway operation and intelligent services monitoring center, real-time traffic data of all high-speed and cross-river bridges in the province is monitored – providing the overview to clear traffic congestion. Jiangsu Expressway has a network mileage of 4,668 kilometers and 420 toll stations -- and more than 1.8 million vehicles pass by every day. Jiangsu Transportation Department, the Jiangsu Provincial Networking Operation Management Center and Jiangsu Traffic Police Department have installed a "central brain" in their highway dispatch command center. Officials said close cooperation between the three – coupled with their intricate, high-tech monitor displays can handle the massive Jiangsu highway network in a scientific and efficient manner.
