Taizhou's power utility company has announced plans to upgrade its electrical grid with next-generation transformers, a move that will reduce electricity losses and improve operational efficiency. The move is expected to boost the construction of a green power grid with an energy-saving and environmentally friendly power system in Taizhou, Zhejiang province.

To achieve the goal of energy saving and environmental protection, the State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Co recently carried out inspections of high energy consumption transformers and found that a total of 109 transformers needed to be replaced. The replacement will reduce the power loss by about 470,000 kWh per year.

"There are some malfunctions found during the inspection, such as oil leakage of old transformers. The timely replacement of the out-of-dated transformers is surely conducive to normal production and safety," said the power supply company.

The usage of energy-saving transformers is beneficial to upstream enterprises and downstream users out of economic, social and environmental considerations, according to the power supply company.

Looking ahead, the company said it will continue to deploy technological innovation and adjustments in power network upgrading, providing end users with better solutions and services.

Technical upgrading to existing equipment should also be encouraged to further boost productivity and cultivate new quality productive forces, which holds the key to China's next round of industrial revolution, according to market analysts.
