PHNOM PENH - A group of Chinese investors from Guangxi province are visiting Cambodia to explore investment possibilities in cassava and sugar cane plantations in Cambodia's Mondulkiri province.

The delegation is led by Chen Zhangliang, vice-governor of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Speaking during a meeting with President of Cambodia's National Assembly Heng Samrin on Friday, Chen said the visit was aimed at seeking investment opportunities in cassava and sugar cane plantations in the hilly province of Mondulkiri.

The province is situated some 543 kilometers northeast of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

The visit is part of efforts to further enhance investment relations between China and Cambodia, he said, asking Heng Samrin to support Guangxi investors in Cambodia in order to make their investment projects come to fruition.

Meanwhile, Heng Samrin expressed his welcome to Chinese investors in Cambodia, saying that the country always gives full support to Chinese investment projects because they are very important to drive up the development of Cambodia's economy and to cement Sino-Cambodian ties.

China is the largest investor in Cambodia. According to a report of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, from 1994 to 2011, the country has received investments worth $8.91 billion from China.
