Rain Man onstage

Rain Man, the American film starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, has been adapted for Chinese theater, based on the story by Barry Morrow. An arrogant and selfish Charlie finds out that his late father has left $3 million to Raymond, the brother he never knew existed. Raymond is autistic and hardly understands the value of money. While fighting for his father's heritage, Charlie becomes close to Raymond.

Haunted house

This Japanese-style ghost house is based on the story of a man who becomes consumed by jealousy and ends up going crazy. He kills his wife and son before committing suicide, leaving a permanent curse on the property. Legend has it that whoever ventures inside will be touched by the curse, so enter at your own peril.

Fire and ice

World champion fi gure skaters will present a gala show sponsored by cosmetics brand Artistry. Performers include Evgeni Plushenko from Russia, Johnny Weir from the US and Stephane Lambiel from Switzerland, to name just a few. Some of China’s best athletes will also be featured. Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, a pair of former Olympic champions, will host the show.

Marx brings his ballads

Richard Marx, the soulful voice behind the pop music classic Right Here Waiting, will kick off his tour of China with a show in Guangzhou on July 28. With a number of hit singles in the late 1980s and 1990s, including Right Here Waiting and Now and Forever, the singer-songwriter has a strong following in China.

New take on traditional saga

The White Snake is presented in a theater show with new media stage design. The traditional folk tale is about an immortal who is in love with an ordinary man, and their marriage is shattered by a self-righteous monk. The traditional story is read and presented in a new perspective by Italian playwright and director Giacomo Ravicchio.

Indonesia's influence

The fourth most populous country in the world, Indonesia, is far more than just Bali, the holiday destination. It is home to about 300 ethnic groups, each with a culture influenced by India, the Middle East, China and Europe. LWH Gallery plans to showcase a series of Indonesian artists. The first of them are Yuli Kodo and Aidi Yupri. The artworks focus on the issues surrounding the state of Indonesian children - their education and their future.

Art Indonesia

The works of two leading graduates of the Indonesia Institute of Art – Harun and Wahyu Gunawan – are being featured in the second and fi nal part of the Impression Indonesia exhibition at LWH Gallery. Their works focus on the impact of globalization and the e# ects of pop culture on their beloved cultural heritage. Harun is concerned about the misuse of human intelligence while Gunawan focuses on the confl ict between man and nature.
