"Our two countries are now each other's most significantly scientific collaborators, as measured by jointly authored publications," US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad said. The ambassador, former governor of the US state of Iowa, just came back to Beijing from a launch ceremony of the China-US Friendship Demonstration Farm in Luanping county, North China's Hebei province Sept 23.
Both Norman E. Borlaug, founder of the World Food Prize and Branstad originated from Iowa, a traditional farming state, which is building stronger ties with China in agricultural cooperation.
"We need to continue to work together to make scientific progress for the good of all other people, not only our countries, but the entire world," the ambassador said.
