Reputed as a role model nationwide in advancing new industrialization, Carbon Fiber Industrial Park (CFIP), located in Weihai's Lingang district, Shandong province, will seek to attract more enterprises to settle in. Leading firms in composite material sector such as those on the Fortune Global 500 list will join in and strengthen the scale and agglomeration effect and promote the development of the whole industry.
To further enhance the park's role as a platform for breakthoughs in carbon fiber and composite materials fields, the park will roll out more measures to attract talent, and establish cooperation with more leading enterprises worldwide, said the park in a recent statement.
According to the statement, so far, it has attracted 48 upstream and downstream enterprises, with their products covering aerospace, wind power, automotive lightweight and some other fields.
The industrial park aims to build a carbon fiber technology innovation center with Weihai Guangwei Group, a composite material major based in Shandong, to develop core technologies in some of the field's critical areas. So far, 12 projects concerning key technologies have been launched.
Looking ahead, the industrial park will remain committed to enhancing its innovation system, focusing on platform construction, R&D, cooperation along the chain, introduction and cultivation of talent, and extending its services to a wider market.
The economic development authorities of the Lingang district also said it help further strengthen the ability of industrial park in the formation of new productive forces, and integrate more high-quality resources.
Lingang will also step up the transformation and upgrading of its industry, and continue to improve the industrial chain and drive the development of the carbon fiber industry.
As a major provincial industrial park, CFIP is a hub integrating production, research and development of carbon fiber and composite materials. The park features five areas covering the industry chain in carbon fiber — a development incubation area, a carbon fiber core production area, a composite material industrial production area, a composite material R&D center and a carbon fiber auxiliary material production area.
