The romantic-comedy drama
Love Is Not Blind, which is based on the movie with the same title, will be staged in Beijing from Nov 11 to 27 at the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center.
The movie, which was directed by Teng Huatao and adapted from an online novel written by Bao Jingjing, achieved huge popularity in 2011. The movie has also been adapted into a TV series.
The story revolves around Huang Xiaoxian, a 27-year-old woman who dreams of marriage but broke up with her longtime boyfriend after she learns that her best friend has been dating him. Huang starts recovering from depression with help from her colleague, Wang Xiaojian, and eventually the two fall in love.
Directed by Chen Liang and adapted by scriptwriter Chen Shuling, the play will feature a group of actors in their early 20s.
Besides the professional actors, some amateur actors, who are selected from nearly 1,000 people in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou, will perform in two shows.
"It will be a nostalgic experience for both the audiences and us," says the director.
