[sina:] Changchun was once the capital of the Manchurian state. How do the locals view this period of history? And how about the protection and preservation of the Manchuria buildings and architectures in the city? Thank you!
[Mr. Mayor:] That was a period of being slaves; a history of humiliation: We won’t forget it. As comrade Jiang Zemin said when he visited Changchun’s Manchuria Palace, “Never forget the 9/18 event.” That period of history also gives us a lesson: The only way to make a country stronger is to develop its economy. There are many Manchurian buildings and architectures in Changchun, such as Manchuria Palace. They are well protected and presently serve as patriotism education bases, which encourage Changchun people to struggle to make the city a better place.
